‘2023 Is Still A Contest Between APC And PDP’ – Buhari’s Aide, Ogunlesi

Tolu Ogunlesi, the Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Digital and New Media, has averred that the 2023 election is still a contest between the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a post shared on Twitter, Ogunlesi said the two presidential candidates (Buhari and Bola Tinubu) APC have presented in the history of the party were never members of the PDP.

According to Ogunlesi, the Labour party presidential candidate, Peter Obi; vice presidential candidate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed and former VP placeholder,  Doyin Okupe, were all PDP members.

Recall that Peter Obi contested the 2019 election alongside Atiku Abubakar while Datti Baba-Ahmed sought the 2023 Kaduna PDP governorship ticket.

Also, Doyin Okupe, a long-time PDP chieftain, earlier declared his intention to run for presidency.

He tweeted: “This is how I see it: APC = APC PDP = PDP LP = PDP Lite – Lite [L] PDP [P] (which is more a compliment actually, than a diss – less legacy baggage, more youth appeal, but still PDP).

“As far as APC is concerned 2023 is still a contest between APC and PDP (in multiple guises).

“The two Presidential candidates APC has so far presented in its history have NEVER been in PDP.

“LP candidates (Pres, VP, placeholder VP)—all ex-PDP.

“So how are APC and PDP the same but LP is somehow different?

“This is not a trick question please. I want us to reason together.”
