2023: We Will Get Justice - PDP Reacts To Delta Guber Candidate, Oborevwori’s Sack
Sacked Delta PDP Governor Candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori

The Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said it will explore every option available to get justice for the sacking of its governorship candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori.

Naija News reports that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Thursday, disqualified Sherrif Oborevwori as the Delta State governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 governorship elections.

The ruling was delivered by Justice Taiwo Taiwo in a suit brought before the court by Olorogun David Edevbie challenging the emergence of Oborevwori, the Speaker of the State House of Assembly as the PDP candidate.

Edevbie argued that Oborevwori didn’t emerge from a properly conducted party primary election as the PDP violated both its constitution and the Electoral Guidelines during the primary election.

Reacting to the FHC ruling in a statement issued by PDP’s State Publicity Secretary in Delta, Dr Ifeanyi Osuoza, the party urged its members to be calm, saying it will push the case further to get justice.

PDP said it had received the judgement of the federal high court but that the party would study the ruling and explore grounds for appeal.

The statement made available to newsmen in Asaba, the state capital read: “The party has received the judgement of an Abuja Federal High Court against our Gubernatorial Candidate, Sheriff Oborevwori, on the grounds of discrepancies in his documents.

“We have already engaged our team of legal experts to critically study the ruling and explore grounds on which we can confidently approach the Court of Appeal.

“We want to, therefore, urge our teeming supporters and party faithful to remain calm, unperturbed and law-abiding.

“We assure them that we are quite confident in our conviction that justice will be done and we will get a judgement at the Appellate Court. There is no cause for alarm.”
