Buhari Felicitates With Petroleum Minister, Timipre Sylva At 58

Nigeria’s Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva has received a congratulatory message from President Muhammadu Buhari as he marks another birthday.

Naija News understands that the former Governor of Bayelsa is celebrating his 58th birthday today, July 7, 2022.

President Buhari in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, felicitated with the All Progressives Congress chieftain and wished him long life and good health.

The Nigerian leader, according to Adesina, lauded Sylva for years of service to his state, Bayelsa, and the country at large.

“President Buhari rejoices with Sylva’s family, their relations, friends and acquaintances on the joyous occasion, wishing the minister good health, long life, and greater service to God, the country and humanity,” the statement said.

Naija News understands that Sylvia had before his appointment as Minister of State, Petroleum Resources, also served as a member of the State House of Assembly in old Rivers State; Special Assistant to a former Minister of Petroleum and Governor of Bayelsa.

Meanwhile, President Buhari before his departure to Senegal on Wednesday, July 6, swore in seven new ministers and immediately reshuffled his cabinet.

This follows their screening and confirmation by the Senate after their names were earlier forwarded to the lawmakers by the President.

After the swearing-in ceremony, Buhari assigned new portfolios to the new ministers during the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

The first batch of Ministers sworn in was Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh – Abia State, Umana Okon Umana – Akwa Ibom State, Odum Odih – Rivers State and Ademola Adewole Adegoroye – Ondo State.

The second batch included Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub – Kano State, Goodluck Nnana Opiah – Imo State and Ekumakama Joseph Nkama – Ebonyi State.

The new ministers will replace those who resigned from the cabinet based on the President’s directive to pursue their 2023 political ambitions.
