‘Wike And I Are Close, He Supported Me’ – Peter Obi Speaks On Alliance With Rivers Governor

The presidential candidate of Labour Party, LP, Peter Obi, has said that there was no conspiracy attached to his visit of Rivers state governor Nyesom Wike.

Obi was one of the prominent politicians that visited the Rivers State capital to meet the Governor behind closed doors after losing the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP presidential ticket.

There were suggestions that the duo might be forming an alliance.

However, Obi, during an interview with Arise TV’s Morning Show on Wednesday, said that was not the case.

Speaking on his relationship with Wike, Obi explained that they were close and he had gained a lot of support from him, especially while he was governor but there was no alliance attached to his visit.

PDP Crisis: Wike Offered Donald Duke As Atiku’s Running Mate – Source

The Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has reportedly ruled out the possibility of a one-on-one meeting with the presidential flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

The Rivers state governor, who insisted that Atiku should engage his team for peace talks on the terms proposed to the party, particularly the resignation of the national chairman, Dr. Iyorchia Ayu, stated that he no longer have faith in Atiku

A source told the Nation that Wike, who has returned from Turkey, has foreclosed a one-on-one meeting with Atiku, citing lack of faith in any personal agreement with the candidate.

Speaking further, the source, who revealed what transpired between Atiku and Wike, said that the Rivers governor had suggested that he pick Donald Duke as his running mate.

2023: Igbo Group Supports Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed To Emerge As Running Mate To Peter Obi

A pan-Igbo sociopolitical pressure organisation, the South East Revival Group (SERG) has urged the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi to pick Senator Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as his running mate.

The group in a statement on Wednesday signed by its President and National Coordinator, Chief Willy Ezugwu noted that Obi needs a strong politician who is a nationalist and free of any baggage of corruption or other issues.

It added that Nigeria deserves to be led by the best people at all levels if it is to develop and win the war against corruption.

The group urged Obi to avoid any individual who can’t explain the source of his/her wealth.

Yobe Senator, Talba Dumps APC For PDP

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost Senator Adamu Garba Talba to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Yobe State.

The former lawmaker who represented Yobe South Senatorial District confirmed his defection in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, citing injustice experienced in the recent primary elections as one of the reasons for his decision.

“I have resolved to defect from the APC to the PDP due to the injustices we experienced in our former party, the APC, together with the people of my Yobe South district and my teeming followers throughout the state”, the former lawmaker said.

Talba also revealed that more people will soon dump the APC and join other parties as a result of their defeat in the primary election.

The senator said he made several attempts to ensure that the issue didn’t get to this stage, and tried to fix the recurring problems including complaints to the national headquarters of the party, but that all yielded no result.

2023: Peter Obi Speaks On Obasanjo Selling His Presidential Ambition To The North

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi on Wednesday spoke on the report claiming that former president Olusegun Obasanjo is selling his candidacy to Northern Nigeria.

The former Governor of Anambra State in his reaction said there is nothing wrong with Obasanjo supporting his presidential ambition.

Obi stated this during an interview on Arise TV on Wednesday morning.

This is coming after the chairman, of Dialogue Group, Mahdi Shehu said Obasanjo is promoting Obi, in the North.

Shehu further stated that Obasanjo has been visiting prominent personalities in the North to sell Peter Obi.

2023: Why Wike Won’t Dump PDP For NNPP, Others – BOT Member

A former Minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Waziri, has said that Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State will not leave the party.

Naija News reports that Wike and some of his loyalists are currently believed to be at loggerheads with the PDP leadership and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, over failed agreements.

Speaking during an interview on Channels TV on Tuesday night, Waziri said the Rivers governor is a loyal PDP member and has invested so much in the party.

Waziri also denied media reports that the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, sent him as an emissary to meet with Wike who was on vacation in Turkey.

The member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees (BoT) said the meeting with the Rivers governor in Turkey, was a coincidence.

Waziri disclosed that he had a chat with Wike but not regarding the crisis rocking the opposition party.

The 2023 Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, says that the Northern electorates would vote for him based on competence and capacity.

Obi during an interview on Arise TV on Wednesday said that northerners would vote for him during the 2023 election despite attempts to spoil his reputation online.

He alleged that his political opponents had recruited some calumny campaigners online to infiltrate his core supporters and spread falsehoods online.

The LP candidate, however, said that he is contesting to be Nigeria’s President to solve the country’s problem and not because he is from a region of the country.

The former Anambra Governor urged politicians to do things that will bring hope to the people and things the citizens will be proud of.

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), Peter Obi has submitted that Nigeria must not vote along ethnic, religious or other sentimental lines in the 2023 presidential election.

Obi who spoke on Wednesday during a TV interview stated that such sentiments have led the country into the current pitiable state in which it has found itself.

According to the former Anambra State Governor, many citizens are in poverty, public universities are locked down, government finance is dwindling and generally, Nigeria is in a coma and needs a specialist to take over and wake it up.

Naija News reports Obi made the submissions during an interview appearance on Arise Television’s ‘The Morning Show.’

He spoke against the backdrop of comments by Rabiu Kwankwaso that he can’t be Obi’s Vice President which led to a stalemate in the planned alliance between the Labour Party and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).

2023: Tinubu In France To Consult Doctors On His Health, Waziri Adamu Claims

A former Minister of Police Affairs, Adamu Waziri, has described the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, as an ailing candidate.

The member of the PDP BoT on Tuesday mocked the former Governor of Lagos over his inability to present a vice presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.

According to Waziri, Tinubu is currently in France to consult doctors on his health.

He, however, wished him to get well soon so that the Peoples Democratic Party could defeat him in 2023.

Waziri pointed to a case of Tinubu being unable to hold a paper during the presidential primary of APC and had to be helped by his wife, the national chairman of their party, Abdullahi Adamu, and President Muhammadu Buhari.

2023: Peter Obi Does Not Stand A Chance Against Atiku – Aminu Waziri

A former minister of Police Affairs and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Board of Trustees, Aminu Waziri, on Tuesday said the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi is no match for Atiku Abubakar of PDP.

According to Waziri, the 2023 presidential election would be based on arithmetical and mathematical permutations and Obi doesn’t fit into that matter.

Waziri stated this during an interview on Channels TV on Tuesday.

Speaking on the merger between Obi and the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, Rabiu Kwakwanso, Waziri said they won’t have joined different parties if that was their plan.

He further stated that both presidential candidates are products of PDP that could have come together.

Waziri, however, said both of them will work more for Atiku than for Bola Tinubu
