The Labour party (LP) Chairman, Julius Abure, has said it is in the interest of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), presidential candidate Rabiu Kwankwaso to serve as the running mate of its presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Ahead of the election, there has been a debate on who would serve as a running mate if both parties agree to form an alliance for the elections.
Kwankwaso in a series of interviews dismissed the possibility of running as vice presidential candidate to Peter Obi.
He also advised the LP presidential candidate to be his running mate with a promise to hand over power to him after eight years in office.
However, in a tweet posted on the party’s page on Monday night, the National chairman said it would be in Kwankwaso’s interest to run with Peter Obi, who is the man of the moment.
Abure added that Obi has the credentials and he is currently the most popular presidential candidate.
The tweet read: “The truth of the matter is that it is in the interest of Kwankwaso to take the Vice Presidency. Peter Obi is the man of the moment, He has the credentials and he is the most popular presidential candidate as we speak today. National Chairman.”
