Gov Bello Sends Three Names Of Commissioners To Kogi Assembly For Approval

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello has sent a three-man name list to the state house of assembly for confirmation as commissioners-designate.

The development was confirmed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed in a terse statement released on Monday, Naija News understands.

The nominees include former Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo who was said to have resigned his appointment to contest the All Progressives Congress, APC, House of Representatives ticket for Yagba Federal Constituency.

The other nominees are Dr. Zakeri Usman and Engr. Mohammed Abdulmutallab from Dekina and Okene Local Government Areas respectively.

Dr. Usman is expected to replace the former Commissioner for Health, Dr. Saka Haruna Audu who was sacked by Governor Bello in April 2022, over allegations of misappropriation of funds.

On the other hand, Abdulmutalab will replace Engr. Abubakar Ohere who just resigned to pursue his senatorial ambition.

Naija News understands that Ohere emerged as the Senatorial candidate of the APC for Kogi Central Senatorial seat and would battle the slot with the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP’s candidate, Barr. Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan in the 2023 election.

Meanwhile, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Kaduna State for the 2023 elections, Senator Uba Sani has announced the choice of Hajia Hadiza Balarabe as his running mate.

Senator Sani made the announcement in a statement released on Monday evening and made available to newsmen.

Naija News reports Dr. Balarabe is the incumbent Deputy Governor of the state and was picked for the same position four years ago by Governor Nasir El-Rufai.

Explaining the reason for his choice which is a Muslim-Muslim ticket, the APC candidate said he reached the decision after wide consultations with critical stakeholders in Kaduna State.
