I'm A Ph.D Holder, Not A Trader - Kwankwaso Hits Peter Obi Of Labour Party
Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi

The presidential candidate of the New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso has said that he and Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, may lose their presidential bid if the right decision is not taken ahead of the 2023 election.

Naija News understands that the possibility of a merger between the two political camps heighten recently, however, there is a disagreement of who becomes the president and vice in the polls.

Some Nigerians believe that the alliance between Obi and Kwankwaso will dethrone the ambition of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the forthcoming election.

However, speaking while featuring on Sunday Politics, a current affairs programme on Channel Television, NNPP’s candidate, Kwankwaso said the major issue is not the alliance but who will be the running mate.

He believes that the electorate in the North won’t vote for the candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, should the latter become the presidential candidate of the proposed NNPP-LP alliance for the 2023 general elections.

When asked what he meant by his comment, Kwankwaso said the northerners will always vote for their northern candidate while the same may likely happen in the South.

He said: “So, the thinking is not whether I like it or I don’t, the fact remains that everybody will lose.

“He [Obi] will lose and I will lose.”

When asked if he was willing to be Obi’s running mate, Kwankwaso said, “What I am telling you is that if anybody from the South-East now, under this circumstance, becomes the presidential candidate of our party or any other party, the implications is that because of the activities and other issues that are really on the ground, northern voters will certainly go for their northern candidate and another party.”
