Nigerian-born martial artist and kickboxer, Israel Adesanya has retained the UFC middleweight championship after a Sunday morning battle with American Jared Cannonier.

Adesanya who walked into the boxing ring ceremoniously paying tribute to top wrestler, Undertaker, won the UFC again by unanimous decision, Naija News reports.

The Adesanya and Cannonier had five rounds in the box with each showing off their prowess in kick and box.

Both men carefully sized each other up by landing body shots in the first round of the fight.

In round two, Naija News understands that Cannonier took the fight to Adesanya, forcing him to back into the corner occasionally.

The fight was, however, temporarily stopped as Cannonier has to have his right eye checked, ending the round with Adesanya on top landing a big body shot.

The third round was eventful as well with Cannonier sending a left-right combination that fails to meet Adesanya. The fighter tries to pin Adesanya to the ground but was unsuccessful as the latter return with body shots.

Cannonier also tries digging his knees into Adesanya’s who manages to free himself and sends a head kick which brings the round to an end.

The fight went on until around five and in the end, Adesanya was declared the winner of the UFC again.
