Amaechi Speaks On Efforts By Tinubu To Reconcile Him And Abe

The immediate-past Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, says he was not aware of any move by the presidential candidate of the APC, Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, to reconcile him with a chieftain of the party in the state, Senator Magnus Abe.

Naija News reports that the former Presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) made this known in an interview with journalists at the party state secretariat in Port Harcourt on Saturday.

Amaechi was on his first visit to the state after losing the APC presidential ticket to Tinubu about four weeks ago in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Recall that Abe served as Secretary to the Rivers State Government during Amaechi’s first tenure in office as governor and later represented Rivers South-East Senatorial District in the National Assembly. The two leaders have been involved in a leadership tussle in the state.

Speaking further, Amaechi said he was making efforts to reconcile all aggrieved persons within the party ahead of the 2023 Rivers governorship election.

He said: “I am not aware that there are plans by Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu to reconcile myself and Magnus Abe.

“Anytime you have transition, you are bound to have a disagreement. I am talking about internal rancour amongst us. In one, two, three weeks, we will be able to resolve what the issues are. The issues are not about the governorship candidate. I need to sit with them and say, can we move forward.”
