I Became An Enemy To My Colleagues For Disclosing My Salary, Allowance As Senator - Shehu Sani

Former Nigerian Senator, Shehu Sani has reacted to the killing of soldiers during an ambush attack by terrorists in Niger State.

Reacting to the development, Sani in a post on the micro-blogging site, Twitter on Friday said it was a tragic moment and prayed for their souls to rest in peace.

He noted that the dead security operatives are citizens of Nigeria like many others but they have paid the supreme price as a result of insecurity in the country.

He wrote: “The Soldiers killed by terrorists in Niger State were husbands, fathers, uncles & Sons of our fellow citizens. They are now in deep moment of grief. A tragic moment has changed their lives forever. We appreciate their life of service & ultimate sacrifice. May their souls rest in peace.”

Naija News recalls the Nigerian Army had earlier confirmed the killing of some of its personnel by criminals in Niger State while they were on official duty.

The Army in a statement on Wednesday evening signed by its spokesperson, Brigadier-General Onyema Nwachukwu said the dead personnel were on their way to respond to a distress call at the mining site when they ran into an ambush.

A gunfight between the criminals and the soldiers ensued after running into an ambush resulting in casualties on both sides, Nwachukwu confirmed.

He however added that the GOC 1 Division has moved to the location and taken over the area.

The explanation comes after reports that bandit terrorists kidnapped two Chinese nationals and killed thirteen security agents during an attack on a mining site in Niger State.

The attack was said to have occurred on Wednesday afternoon in Ajata, Aboki in Gurmana ward of Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State.
