A Criminal Court in Benin City on Friday remanded seven suspects over their involvement in the recent cult clash in the Benin metropolis.
The seven suspects arrested in connection with the resurgence of cult-related clashes in Benin City were remanded in prison custody by Hon. Justice Efe Ikponmwonba, sitting in Criminal Court 1, Benin City.
The suspects, Esosa Eregeorowo, Frank Obaze, Ministrer Godwin, Jeremiah Timothy, Jimoh Lasisi, Osasu Idehen, and Idehen Marvis, were arraigned for conspiracy to commit murder, murder, and membership of an unlawful society.
Ruling on an application motion brought by the Prosecutor, the court ordered that the suspects be remanded at the Oko Correctional Centre in Benin City, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public prosecution Edo State.
Naija News reports that Edo State has witnessed renewed Cult clashes after almost a year of peace.
It was gathered that the renewed cult clashes resulted from an individual leaving his present cult for a rival gang. This did not sit well with his former gang, resulting in a bloodbath.
