2023: Over 100 APC Members Join ADC As Mammoth Crowd Cheer Kachikwu In Sokoto

Over a hundred members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were reportedly received into the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Sokoto State on Thursday, July 30, 2022, Naija News understands.

The defectors were received into the party yesterday when thousands of party loyalists trooped out to give a warm welcome to ADC presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu.

Recall that Kachikwu, a media entrepreneur defeated a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Moghlau to emerge as the party’s standard presidential flag-bearer for the 2023 elections.

Naija News reports that Kachikwu defeated Moghalu, who had vowed to retire Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar in the presidential primary of the ADC held in early June 2022.

Kachikwu polled 977 votes against Moghalu’s 589 votes. Chukwuka Monye came third with 339 votes at the primary exercise in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

On Thursday, Kachikwu and big wigs in the ADC were in Sokoto to commission the party’s new state secretariat and equally receive hundreds of decampees from the APC to the ADC.

Naija News understands that no fewer than 120 APC members were received yesterday into the ADC by the national leadership of the party.

Kachikwu in his brief remarks, hailed the party, saying to the new decampees that they have just joined a camp that believed in one indivisible Nigeria.

According to him, ADC professes shared prosperity for all Nigerians and the rule of law. The Presidential hopeful also noted that the party sees and professes love as the foundation that ties all Nigerians together.

Kachikwu said the newly commissioned secretariat would be a beacon of hope to the people of Sokoto while promising that ADC would not fail them.

“This is your party and our party, embrace it. This is the party for the new Nigeria we all desire.

“ADC is out to provide better and visionary leadership that would lead to shared prosperity for all Nigerians”, The Guardian quoted Kachikwu as saying.
