A factional Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Wale Ojo and the 2018 running mate to Senator Ademola Adeleke, Mr. Albert Adeogun have dumped the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports the duo are part of the over ten thousand PDP members that defected to the APC on Tuesday ahead of the July 16 governorship election in Osun State.

The defectors were received officially by the Osun State Governor and APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola and the APC National Secretary, Iyiola Omisore as well as other party leaders at a rally held at the freedom park in Osogbo, the state capital.

Speaking at the rally, Ojo described the PDP in Osun State as a party of wasters and serial failures.

“Joining the opposition PDP in Osun is like joining forces with wasters.

“Parties that have become serial failures are not worth following for anyone who is serious and driven by excellence.

“That is why we have come to align with a symbol of excellence and progress in Gov. Oyetola,” Ojo said.

In his own speech, Adeogun explained that the need to contribute to the great work been done in the state by the Governor informed his decision to dump the PDP for APC.

“Today, we have come to align with the progressive party to contribute to the great work that is being done.

“We hail the governor, who in spite of the lean purse of the state has steadied the sinking ship”, he said.

The APC National Secretary, Omisore told the defectors that they had made the right choice and will be given a fair and equal chance of operation within the APC.

“We have received you wholeheartedly and welcomed you into an atmosphere of equality and justice.

“We invite you to join hands with us and let us work together for the development of our beloved Osun and our nation.”

On his part, Gov. Oyetola who described the defectors as his friends, welcomed them to the APC and assured them of a level playing ground.

“I congratulate our friends and brothers who have made a critical decision for their political careers and fortunes.

“You have come at the right time and you have nothing to fear.

“You are already members, there will be no discrimination whatsoever.

“Senator Omisore is a testimony that our party values people of substance and gives a fair chance to all,” the governor said.
