Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Speaks As Court Rejects His Fresh Bail Application

The leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has appealed for calm among his supporters following the denial of his fresh bail application.

It will be recalled that the ruling of the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja presided over by Justice Binta Nyako was not in favour of the embattled IPOB leader.

The Biafra agitator had filed a fresh application seeking his release on bail pending the determination of the treasonable felony charge the Federal Government preferred against him but the case was dismissed when it came up for hearing on Tuesday.

Kanu, speaking within the court premises said he wants the entire region to remain peaceful, pointing out that he is fighting to defend the people and not kill them.

Despite the outcome of Tuesday’s court case, the IPOB leader vowed that he and his team would not relent until victory is achieved.

In his words, “It is what we expect. But I want our people to be very calm. I want Biafranland to be calm, calm, and very peaceful. We are fighting to defend our people, not to kill them.

“We are fighting to defend them, that’s why I’m here. And we will continue to do so until we get victory.”

Earlier, Naija News had reported that Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court adjourned the trial of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Justice Nyako adjourned the case of the pro-Biafra activist till 14 November 2022, pending the determination of the Appeal Court.

It was gathered that Nnamdi Kanu’s legal team will approach the Court of Appeal following his bail denial by the High Court.
