22 Youngsters Found Dead Inside Nightclub In South Africa

At least 22 youngsters were reportedly found dead on Sunday in a popular nightclub in the neighbourhood of East London, South Africa.

According to Daily Dispatch, the victims were young adults aged between 18 and 20.

A spokesman for the Eastern Cape Authorities, Brigadier Thembinkosi Kinana, said it is unknown how many people were at the Enyobeni Tavern before the incident, police do not know if there are any survivors.

“We got a report that about 17 people d*ed in a local tavern in Scenery Park which is based in East London. We are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident,” said Brigadier Thembinkosi Kinana.

Speculations at the tavern suggested exposure to poisonous substances as bodies were said to have been found on chairs, while others claimed there was a stampede inside the tavern.

Relatives of the victims are still unable to see the bodies of their loved ones, while locals have called for the venue to be closed.

However, the police have said they will not be given to hearsays and speculations surrounding the incident.

“The incident is still under investigation, we do not want to make any speculations at this stage,” Tembinkosi Kinana, the police spokesperson, said.
