NDLEA Arrests 7 At Kano Airport For Drug Trafficking

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Commander at Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano (MAKIA) , Mr Sani Abubakar, has said that seven suspects have been arrested over an alleged of drug trafficking at the airport.

According to him, the suspects were arrested from May to June with “”A total of 470.21 kilograms of drugs seized from them” and they were arrested with Indian hemp, tramadol, pentazocine and among others.

He made this statement on Friday, in Kano on the occasion of commemoration of the 2022 UN International Day against Drug Abuse and Trafficking.

The theme of the Day is: “Addressing Drug Challenges in Health and Humanitarian Crisis”.

He further disclosed that those arrested will soon be arraigned before the court for proper prosecution

He said that they were arrested at the airport while attempting to smuggle drugs into the country.

He also stated that the NDLEA operatives are determined to thwart attempts at using the airport for drug trafficking.’’

Abubakar noted that increased manpower, provision of logistics and enhanced staff welfare contributed to the positive strides the NDLEA was making.
