2023: Buhari’s Nephew May Dump APC, Opens Talks With PDP, NNPP

A member of the House representing Daura Federal Constituency, Fatuhu Muhammad, has revealed that he is in talks with opposition parties as he plots to dump the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Muhammad, who is President Muhammadu Buhari’s nephew, stated that he is not valued in the APC.

The lawmaker, who lost the recent APC primaries, said he would soon announce a decision on his next political move.

Muhammad said: “Yes, I am in serious talks with PDP, and I am in serious talks with NNPP. They are all looking for me; they know what it means to have me if the APC doesn’t know my value. I will soon make a decision.

Supreme Court Takes Decision On Section 84(12) Of Electoral Act

The Supreme Court has dismissed the suit seeking to void the provision of Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022.
Naija News earlier reported that President Muhammadu Buhari and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami, had on April 29 filed a suit before the apex court challenging the constitutionality of Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act.

In a judgment on Friday, the apex court ruled that President Buhari could not seek to fault its provisions of the electoral act after participating in the law-making by assenting to it.

A seven-member panel of the apex court, headed by Justice Musa Dattijo Mohammed, gave the unanimous judgment on Friday.

Obaseki Transfers Powers To Edo Deputy Governor, Shaibu

Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State has proceeded on his annual leave and has transferred powers to his Deputy, Philip Shaibu, to act in his stead while he is away.

This was made known in a statement sent to Naija News Friday by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie.

Osagie said Obaseki has written to the Edo State Assembly to intimate the House of the development.

He said: “The governor has proceeded on his annual leave and has transferred power to his deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Philip Shaibu. The Edo State House of Assembly has been duly informed about the development.”

2023: Tonto Dikeh ‘Emerges’ Governorship Running Mate In Rivers State

Controversial Nollywood actress and philanthropist, Tonto Dikeh has reportedly been picked as running mate to Tonte Ibraye, the Governorship candidate of the Africa Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State, for the 2023 election.

The actress took to her Instagram page, a few minutes ago to make the announcement alongside their campaign poster with the hashtag ‘Rivers Rescue Mission 2023’.

Tonto Dikeh expressed appreciation to the Governorship candidate, stating that they are looking forward to investing massively in social protection, creating social value for young people and increasing women’s inclusion in the governance system.

She added that they would be supporting small businesses and strengthening the traditional institution to be active players in the drive to bring sustainable development.

2023: Kwankwaso To Meet Governor Wike Today

The Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike is set to meet with the presidential candidate of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu Kwankwaso in Port Harcourt today (Friday).

The meeting is coming at the time the former Governor of Kano State is searching for a running mate ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Kwankwaso has been meeting with the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi over the possibility of the two parties merging.

The discussion has been experiencing stumbling blocks due to who will step down to become the running mate of the other.

What Adamu Told Osun Governorship Campaign Committee

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has said the ruling party cannot afford to lose the July 16 Osun governorship election.

Adamu stated that the ruling party must do everything within the law to ensure that its governorship candidate emerges victorious, adding that his tolerance level for failure is zero.

Naija News reports that the Adamu said this on Thursday, in Abuja during the inauguration of the 86-member campaign council for the Osun election.

He said that the party is certain of victory in the Osun election even though it may be a little more difficult than the Ekiti governorship poll.

Adamu said the Ekiti and Osun governorship elections would prepare the ground for the party’s victory in the 2023 elections because Nigerians have chosen the APC as their preferred party.

The APC national chairman, however, urged the campaign council to show commitment in its assignment.

2023: PDP Reacts To Obi, Umahi, Others Visit To Wike

The Peoples Democratic Party on Thursday stated that there is no crisis in the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, stated this while reacting to the visit of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State.

Recall that the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi had also visited Wike with claims that he has the intention to woo the Rivers State Governor to the All Progressives Congress.

Bala Mohammed, the Governor of Bauchi State an ally of the presidential candidate of PDP, Atiku Abubakar reportedly visited Wike to plead with him not to dump the main opposition party.

Ologunagba while reacting in a chat with Daily Trust said if anybody visits Governor Wike, it is normal because he is a leader in PDP.

He further stated that PDP does not work based on allegations, but works with facts.

2023: South-South APC Leaders Vow To Win Election For Tinubu

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the south-south region of the country have vowed to work for the victory of the party and its presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the 2023 elections.

The position was revealed at the end of their closed-door meeting in Abuja.

Speaking on behalf of others, National Vice Chairman of the APC South-South Zone, Victor Giadom stated that their commitment is to ensure Tinubu wins and the APC returns to dominance in the region.

He pledged that they are ready to give it all it takes to ensure Tinubu and APC’s victory in the 2023 polls.

2023: We Are Weighing All Options – Wike’s Ally Claims

The recent visit of members of the opposition party, starting from the governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi, and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi to Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has raised questions in the Peoples Democratic Party.

Wike has remained silent on the activities of the PDP after losing the presidential ticket of the party to Atiku Abubakar and the opportunity of emerging as the party’s vice-presidential candidate.

Recall that former Vice President, Atiku chose the Governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa as his running mate.

Ebonyi PDP Factional Gov Candidate, Ogba Names His Running Mate

A factional governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Sen. Obinna Ogba has named his running mate for the 2023 elections.

Naija News reports that the candidate who currently is the lawmaker representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial Zone in the national assembly declared Dr Oliver Osi as his running mate ahead of the polls.

Ogba said the choice of Osi was arrived at after a series of consultations among party stakeholders. He confirmed his choice in a letter addressed to the PDP National Chairman, Sen. Iyiorcha Ayu.

Osi is the lawmaker representing the Ivo State Constituency in the Ebonyi House of Assembly.

2023: Atiku Sent Bala Mohammed To Plead With Wike – Gov’s Ally Claims

An ally of Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has revealed why he was visited by his counterpart, the Governor of Bauchi State, Bala Mohammed.

The ally who spoke with Daily Trust on the visit said the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and his group sent Mohammed to appeal to Wike not to leave PDP.

He further stated that the Governor of Ebonyi State, David Umahi and the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi met with Wike to woo him to their party.

According to the ally, the silence of Governor Wike has sent jitters across PDP, adding that they are afraid that he might defect to another party.
