Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, on May 24, 2021, threatened to flog the former Governor of Niger State, Babangida Aliyu over his utterances.

The Rivers state governor made the threat when he replied to a statement credited to Aliyu in April 2021, Naija News recalls.

Aliyu had accused Wike of being behind the travails of the then PDP National Chairman, Uche Secondus, because of his personal ambition to either become Vice President or a political godfather.

In a chat with reporters at the Government House in Port Harcourt, Wike  had said it is unfortunate that Aliyu is still a member of the highest decision-making body of the party despite his confession.

The governor had accused Aliyu of being a mole in the PDP and a serial betrayal, adding the former governor has continued to work against the success of the party.

He had said: “Aliyu Babangida is a mole in PDP. These are people who get information and at night they go to the ruling party (APC) and give them the information.

“Aliyu think it was that time they were moving everywhere, saying that they were fighting [the] PDP.

“I would have flogged the hell out of him. Rivers state is not… I will flog the hell out of him here.”
