The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the just-concluded Ekiti governorship election, Biodun Oyebanji, has reacted to his emergence as the governor-elect of the state.

Naija News reports that Oyebanji won 15 out of the 16 Local Government Areas of the state and gathered 187,057 votes to win the election.

The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Segun Oni came second with 82,211, while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bisi Kolawole gathered 67,457 votes.

The returning officer for the election, Professor Kayode Oyebode at 3:04 am on Sunday declared Oyebanji the winner of the governorship election.

In a tweet via his verified Twitter handle on Sunday morning, Oyebanji thanked the people of Ekiti for voting massively for him and his party, APC.

Oybanji stated that the people of the state made his victory possible, asking them for their support in order to keep making the state work.

The former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) will now take over from his former principal, Governor Kayode Fayemi.

He wrote: “Thank You, Ekiti Kete. #Ekitidecides2022 #All4BAO”
