Letter To Buhari: Contestants Expected President To “Choose” Successor – Bola Tinubu Reveals

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu, has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for resisting pressures from presidential aspirants and party leaders to ‘choose’ a successor.

Naija News reports that Tinubu stated this in a letter to the President, which he personally signed.

While describing Buhari as a true leader, brother and friend, the former Lagos State governor said the president demonstrated a sense of purpose, composure, and maturity in the weeks leading to the Special Convention of the Party.

He expressed gratitude for the President’s congratulatory letter to him, adding that, “You belonged to everybody in the party and you belonged to none of the individual candidates of the party.”

EkitiDecides2022: APC Candidate Oyebanji, Defeat Segun Oni At Fayemi’s Polling Unit

The candidate of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), Biodun Oyebanji has been declared a winner at the polling unit of Ekiti State Governor Kayode Fayemi in the Saturday election.

This is coming a few hours after Biodun Oyebanji expressed confidence about winning the keenly contested election.

Fayemi voted at Polling Unit 009 in front of Apata’s house, Ogilolo in Isan/Ilafon/Ilemso area of Oye Local government area.

The APC candidate, Oyebanji scored 154, while the SDP and PDP candidates scored 3 and 4 votes respectively.

Muslim-Muslim, Christian-Christian Tickets Can’t Get You Free Food – Tinubu’s Support Group To Nigerians

All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s support group has admonished Nigerians to get over the worries about who and which region its candidate is picking his running mate from.

The APC Zonal Secretary, South-South, Dr Blessing Agbomhere made the call in a statement handed to newsmen on Saturday, saying that a Muslim-Muslim or Christian-Christian ticket cannot guarantee free food for Nigerians, hence citizens should be focused on the best candidate to help the country recover from it lasts.

Agbomhere said the party’s priority at the moment is to win the 2023 presidential election, and that its victory is solely dependent on the support from Nigerians.

He stressed that Nigerians at this crucial time should be interested in the candidate and political party that will bring desired development to the country and not whether Tinubu would pick a Muslim or Christian as his running mate.

APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Afuye Wins Polling Unit

The Deputy governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Mojisola Afuye, has won her polling unit in the ongoing governorship election in Ekiti State.

Afuye voted at Atiba Aafin Ward 1, unit 003, in Ikere Ekiti.

The ruling party gathered a total of 165 votes to defeat SDP and PDP, who polled 3 and 7 votes respectively.

The candidate of the African Democratic Congress, Wole Oluyede, who is an indigene of Ikere Ekiti, polled 27 votes.

Naija News had earlier reported that the Governorship Candidate of APC, Biodun Oyebanji, secured his first victory in the ongoing governorship election in Ekiti State.

Oyebanji polled 20 votes ahead of the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Bisi Kolawole who garnered two votes.

The result is from the polling unit 10, ward 10, Afao/Kajola.

Viral Video: Senate President, Lawan Speaks On Alleged Defection From APC

The President of the 9th Senate, Ahmad Lawan on Saturday debunked the report claiming that he has dumped the All Progressives Congress for the Peoples Democratic Party.

This is coming after Lawan was seen in a viral video reading a letter of defection from APC to PDP.

Lawan in a letter released through his Special Adviser on Media, Ola Awoniyi, noted the letter of resignation of one of the lawmakers from Kebbi State was edited by the purveyors to mean that he has defected.

Ekiti Election: APC Candidate, Oyebanji Spotted Giving A Woman Money While Touring Polling Units

The All Progressives Congress candidate in the Ekiti State governorship election, Biodun Oyebanji has been dragged online after he was spotted giving an aged woman money during the election.

Biodun Oyebanji and his wife Olayemi cast their votes at Okelele ward 06 unit 003 Ikogosi Ekiti, Ekiti West Local Government of the State and toured other polling units.

In the photo that surfaced online, Oyebanji was captured giving an aged woman some Naira notes.

The gesture generated mixed reactions from Nigerians. While some claimed it was vote-buying others said Oyebanji was only helping the woman.

A Lot Of Things Were Considered Before Making Masari Tinubu’s Running Mate – APC Chieftain

Kabiru Faskari, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, has opened up on the reason Kabiru Ibrahim Masari was nominated as Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s running mate.

Masari’s name was submitted as a placeholder for Tinubu’s running mate pending the time the party would end its consultations.

INEC had fixed Friday, June 17, as the deadline for parties to send in the names of their vice-presidential candidates.

Shedding more light on the development, Kabiru revealed during an interview on Channels TV that the decision to choose Masari as a placeholder came from Tinubu.

Zamfara Civil Servants Get A Week Public Holiday To Register For PVC

Zamfara State government has declared a one-week public holiday for civil servants to enable them obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVC).

Naija News understands that Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle‘s led government made the announcement on Saturday, June 18, 2022.

A statement issued to newsmen in Gusau, the state capital on Saturday, outlined that the work-free day starts from next Monday to Friday, (June 20th to 24th, 2022).

This according to the government would allow the state’s public and civil servants to be able to fulfil their civic rights in the 2023 general elections.

Governor Matawalle in the statement, directed all the commissioners, Special Advisers, Permanent Secretaries, other public office holders, party officials and traditional rulers to monitor and supervise the ongoing Voter Registration exercise.

The statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information, Hon. Ibrahim Magaji Dosara noted that every citizen above the age of 18 is expected to be part of the exercise, saying that it was their constitutional right to elect their leaders.

Ekiti Decides: EFCC Arrests Party Agent For Vote-Buying

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arrested an agent of a political party over his plan to buy votes of electorates on Saturday in the ongoing governorship election in Ekiti State.

Naija News learnt that the operatives of the anti-graft agency arrested that alleged vote-buyer with a bag of cash while trying to induce voters.

The party agent was arrested by operatives of the commission at Ola Oluwa Grammar School on Ilawe Road, Ado Ekiti.

Naija News had earlier reported that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), disclosed that it met with the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to guard against vote-buying.

2023: Okowa Speaks On Call For Igbo Presidency

The Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ifeanyi Okowa, on Friday spoke on the call for the 2023 presidential election to be zoned to the South-East.

The Governor of Delta who described himself as an Igbo man and part of the Southeast noted that his emergence as the running mate of Atiku Abubakar does not stop the call for Igbo Presidency in the future.

Okowa while speaking on Arise TV on Friday evening said he fits into all divides as he is part of people from South-South and South-East.

Recall that some groups had condemned Okowa for accepting to run as Atiku’s running mate despite the call for power to shift to the South-East.

The groups claimed that Okowa who happens to be part of the Southern Governors Forum betrayed the arrangement for power to shift to the South in the 2023 presidential election.
