Police Officer Killed As Gunmen Burn Patrol Vehicle In Enugu

Some unknown gunmen have reportedly killed an officer of the Nigeria Police Force in Enugu State.

Reports had it that the criminal group appeared fully armed along Umanu junction in Nsukka on Friday and opened fire on the police officers who were on duty on the route.

The gun duel Naija News learnt started around 6:20 am on Friday morning. The terrorists according to reports also burnt a police vehicle along the Ibeagwa-Ani road.

Residents who confirmed the incident to newsmen said they heard sporadic shooting on the route and afterwards, they rushed to the junction and found the lifeless policeman on the ground.

The Police Public Relations Officer for the command, Daniel Ndukwe has confirmed the incident. He said: “There was an attack on operatives in Nsukka today but the details are still sketchy”.

Meanwhile, the Adamawa State Police Command has announced the arrest of six suspects in connection to the Guyuk and Lamurde Local Government Areas bloody clashes that claimed some lives.

The command, in its effort to bring an end to the lingering clashes in the neighborhood of the LGAs, apprehended about six suspects in connection to the clashes.

The lingering clashes claimed so far claimed many lives of innocent citizens, while property worth millions was destroyed.

The arrested suspects include ;Honga Bulus, 20 and Abdulsalam Shaibu, 18, residents of Boshikiri in Guyuk LGA.

Others are; Shitu Garba , 25, Abubakar Hamman,48, Sale Umar, 26, Ayuba Idi, 28, residents of Lafiya, Lamurde LGAs.
