Valentine Obienyem, the Media Adviser to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has debunked reports that his principal replied to the comments of the Spiritual Director of Adoration Ministry, Rev Father Ejike Mbaka.

Naija News reported that Mbaka made anti-Obi comments during a service held at his prayer hall on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

Mbaka while addressing his members said Obi would not become the president of Nigeria in 2023 because he lacks the spirit of generosity.

This earned him knocks from many Nigerians on social media. It also led to a reduction in his followers on Facebook.

However, some news platforms used old videos of Peter Obi speaking about how he shunned excessive spending to save money while in office as a response to Mbaka.

Debunking the claims, Peter Obi’s aide in a statement on Thursday, said the Presidential candidate did not respond to Mbaka’s comment and will not issue any statement concerning such matter in the future.

The statement read, “Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to Mr Peter Obi as his reply to Fr. Ejike Mbaka.

“We wish to state for the record that Mr Peter Obi did not and is not planning to issue any reply.

“We advise that any medium trying to publish such an unsigned letter should clarify its authenticity from Mr Obi’s Media Office.”
