Nollywood Mourns As Veteran Actor Dies

Veteran Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yinka Ogundaisi has reportedly died.

The death of the seasoned actor was announced by Ropo Ewenla in a WhatsApp message to members of the Ibadan Film Circle (IFC), a group the late filmmaker/film marker belonged to, The Nation reports.

It reads: “Today, this morning, one phase of history came to an end. Erin ti wo. The elephant rises no more. Yinka Ogundaisi bid this world farewell at dawn. It was Kate Adepegba who dropped the bomb on my lap. I called Uncle Yinka’s number to confirm and rudely, it was so.”

The veteran actor had been ill for a long time and at some point seek funds publicly.

Meanwhile, the movie industry was recently thrown into mourning after one of its own, veteran filmmaker, Wale Fanu died.

Jide Bisayo, an associate of the late filmmaker announced on Sunday.

Before death, the 72-year-old veteran, who lived with sickle cell, was the managing director of one of the foremost production houses in Nollywood, Cinekraft.

Announcing the death of the veteran filmmaker, Bisayo noted that Cinekraft contributed to the birth of Nollywood.

Busayo wrote, “In the beginning while Nollywood was still an embryo, there was CINEKRAFT. Cinekraft in no small way contributed to the birthing of the nascent industry.

“Behind Cinekraft administration and production management was one indefatigable, never tiring creative soul, my boss, Wale Fanu. Uncle Wales (as I like calling you), rest in the bosom of the Lord.

“A titan has gone home indeed!”
