Some unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted three missionaries working with the Kogi State Child Evangelism Fellowship.

The missionaries according to reports were on a ministerial assignment on Friday, June 10 when they were ambushed and kidnapped at Ejule in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.

Naija News reports that Kogi State Coordinator of Children Evangelism Ministry (CEM), Evangelist Charles Esho confirmed the names of the three Missionaries as; Evangelist Peter Adigidzi, Pastor Mike Baba and Pastor Sunday Abah.

The trio are residents of Lokoja. Evangelist Esho called for prayers for the safety and divine rescue of the victims within the shortest possible period.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Williams Anya is said to have confirmed the incident, assuring that the operatives are on a mission to rescue the victims.

Meanwhile, family members and worshippers are reportedly in contact with terrorists to secure the release of Anglican Communion Bishop of Jebba Diocese, Rt Rev Oluwaseun Aderogba and his wife who were abducted on Sunday.

It was gathered that the cleric and his wife were abducted yesterday in the evening hour along Ogbomoso-Oyo Road.

The Bishop’s Chaplain who was with the victims narrated the incident to the New Telegraph moments after he escaped from the ambush.

He disclosed that they were travelling from Jebba to Oyo when their vehicle developed a fault a few kilometres away from the ancient city.

“My Lord bishop called the Lord bishop of Oyo Bishop Aladekugbe for help.

“However, before help could come, some armed men surrounded and ordered them into the bush. I was lucky. They didn’t see me because of my black cassock.

“I fell flat on my belly to hide myself while they marched my bishop and wife deep into the forest,” the chaplain told reporters.

The terrorists have reached out to the church demanding the sum of N50 million Naira.
