A Catholic priest in charge of St Anthony’s Parish, Rev James Kantoma has been abducted by unknown gunmen in Plateau State.

It was gathered that the assailants abducted the cleric in his house situated in the Angware community of Jos East Local Government Area.

Naija News understands that Kantoma is also the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in the council area.

The gunmen are said to have arrived in the community last night and went straight to the house of their victim. Residents, mostly youths who were alerted by the incident reportedly tried to stop the criminals and even gave them a hot chase into the bush.

They, however, gave up the chase after the assailant reportedly began shooting sporadically and eventually took the Reverend Father away.

Commenting on the incident, the state chairman of CAN, Polycarp Lubo, lamented the activities of criminals in the community. According to him, “since the gunmen took the Reverend Father away, they have not heard anything either from him or the abductors up till this morning.”

Lubo, however, expressed hope that Kantoma would be safe and that the body of Christ is praying for him.

Meanwhile, some unknown gunmen have reportedly abducted three missionaries working with the Kogi State Child Evangelism Fellowship.

The missionaries according to reports were on a ministerial assignment on Friday, June 10 when they were ambushed and kidnapped at Ejule in Ofu Local Government Area of the state.

Naija News reports that Kogi State Coordinator of Children Evangelism Ministry (CEM), Evangelist Charles Esho confirmed the names of the three Missionaries as; Evangelist Peter Adigidzi, Pastor Mike Baba and Pastor Sunday Abah.

The trio are residents of Lokoja. Evangelist Esho called for prayers for the safety and divine rescue of the victims within the shortest possible period.
