A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe has said the flagbearer of his party, Bola Tinubu, will defeat the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

Naija News reports that the APC national leader defeated 13 other presidential hopefuls at the ruling party’s primary election to emerge as its standard-bearer.

Tinubu polled 1,271 votes to beat the likes of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo who polled 235 votes, former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi who scored 316 votes, and Senate President Ahmed Lawan who polled 152 votes.

Reacting to Tinubu’s emergence, Igbokwe opined that Tinubu will win the 2023 presidential election and retire Abubakar permanently from politics.

In a post on his Facebook page, the APC stalwart claimed that the presidency has been zoned to the South, saying that Atiku cannot win the upcoming general elections.

“Asiwaju will retire Atiku permanently in 2023. And if you must know, Presidency is zoned to the South and the world knows about it,” Igbokwe wrote.

Meanwhile, the opposition PDP has stated that Tinubu is no match for Abubakar, following his emergence as the APC presidential candidate.

The PDP further stated that Tinubu would soon realize that Nigeria is not one of his acquired estates or fiefdoms.

The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Debo Ologunagba, in a statement said the Nigerian people are not his political string-puppets and retinue of lackeys, from whom he bought the APC Presidential ticket.
