Police Arrest 13 Suspected Killers Of Benue Singer, Gang Leader At Large

The Benue State Police Command on Wednesday evening said, it has arrested 13 suspected killers of the state popular singer, Terungwa Ikon, whose body was discovered near a river.

The command Public Relations Officer, SP Catherine Anene, in a statement said, 13 suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing.

The statement noted that the suspects’ gang leader who lured the deceased to the bank of River Benue, was still at large.

It will be recalled that Naija News had previously reported that the body of a popular singer in Benue State, Terungwa Albert Ikon, aka ‘Ortrees, was on Sunday found dead within the North Bank area of Makurdi after several weeks of him going missing.

The Police in a statement have now confirmed the arrest of suspected perpetrators.

The statement read in part, “You may recall that on April 13, 2022, Mr Terungwa Ikon Albert of behind Okiki Hotel, Makurdi, was reported missing by his father. Upon receipt of this information, detectives from the command were deployed to investigate the case.

“During investigation, detectives from Operation Zenda Joint Task Force arrested one Victor Ahambe, Chichi Maxwell, Andrew Okoliko, Terdoo Tersugh, and nine others in connection with the case.

“These suspects confessed to be members of the same cult and participated in the killing of the victim at the River Benue bank.

“They stated further that on April 13, 2022, while they were drinking in a beer parlour on Terguma Street, North Bank, Makurdi, their leader, Doggy, came with Terungwa Ikon (the singer) and bought a drink for him, after which he ordered them to the River Benue bank where he robbed the deceased of his belongings. Doggy removed a pistol from his pocket and shot the singer in the head.

“Other members contributed to the killing by cutting him with machetes and the corpse was dropped in the river to float.

“Investigation is ongoing to arrest suspects at large and other cult members, especially Doggy,” the statement read.

The command called on people of the state who might have information on the fleeing suspect to contact the security for immediate action.
