2023: Jonathan Sends Message To Tinubu, Peter Obi, Atiku And Other Candidates

Ahead of the 2023 general election, former President Goodluck Jonathan has sent an important message to presidential candidates of all political parties.

In a statement shared on Twitter, Jonathan said the emergence of the flag bearers after submitting to a rigorous primary election demonstrate their belief and interest in the progress of the nation.

The former president urged the various party candidates to conduct their political campaigns in a manner devoid of resentment, divisiveness and treachery.

According to Jonathan, no ambition is worth the life of another and candidates must shun violence and acts that will encourage any form of bloodletting.

Tinubu Meets APC Chairman, Northern Governors Over Running Mate

2023 Presidential hopeful, Bola Tinubu is reportedly in a closed-door meeting with northern governors elected under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The meeting Naija News learnt is being held in Asokoro, Abuja.

This is coming hours after APC national leader was declared the winner of the party’s presidential primary held in Eagles Square Abuja between Monday 6th to 8th June 2022.

Though the agenda of the emergency meeting was not made public, there are assertions that it is to consult on the party’s next plans ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

Also present at the meeting is the APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

Reports said about 11 of the APC governors were in attendance at the meeting which will also serve as an avenue to again congratulate Tinubu for his victory in the primaries.

2023: Tinubu Wanted Me To Join APC In 2014 – Asari Dokubo

A former Niger Delta militant, Asari Dokubo has revealed that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, wanted him to join the ruling party in 2014.

Dokubo stated that loyalty to former President Goodluck Jonathan and the South-South region prevented him from joining the party before the 2015 general elections.

Naija News reports that the former militant made this known on a Facebook Live on Wednesday evening.

He stated that the Minister for Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, tried to convince him to join the ruling APC and abandon Jonathan during a meeting in Mecca, Saudi Arabia in 2013.

The former militant revealed that he had to cut off his friendship with Tinubu because of Goodluck in 2014.

He also disclosed that he had cut ties with Aregbesola, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, former APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and President Muhammadu Buhari.

Dokubo, however, said that he sacrificed those relationships for his people and has no regret for his actions.

2023: Adebayo Emerges SDP Presidential Candidate, To Tackle Atiku, Tinubu

A prominent lawyer and media executive, Prince Adewole Adebayo, has emerged as the Social Democratic Party (SDP) 2023 presidential candidate.

Adebayo scored 1,526 votes to emerge as the party’s standard-bearer, defeating the only co-contestant, Khadija Lamidi, who polled 83 votes.

Naija News reports that Adebayo won the party’s presidential ticket at the SDP National Convention held on Wednesday in Abuja.

In his acceptance speech, Adebayo said that his emergence indicates that it was the turn of the Nigerian masses to take over power in 2023 and enjoy the dividends of democracy.

Only Peter Obi’s Faction Of Labour Party Is Recognized – NLC

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Thursday stated that the Labour Party faction of a former Governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi, is the only recognised faction.

This is coming after a faction of the party declared a former chairman of the party in Anambra State, Jude Ezenwafor as the winner of the presidential primary it organised on Wednesday.

Ezenwafor, however, on Thursday announced his withdrawal from the 2023 presidential race.

According to Ezenwafor, his decision to withdraw from the race is based on personal reasons.

The National President of the NLC, Ayuba Wabba while reacting to the emergence of Ezenwafor as a factional presidential candidate said his faction is not recognised.

Wabba further stated that the NLC and TUC recognize the leadership of the Labour Party led by Barr. Julius Abure

2023: PDP BOT Meets Atiku Over Running Mate

The Peoples Democratic Party Board of Trustees on Thursday had a closed-door meeting with the presidential candidate of the party, Atiku Abubakar.

Naija News gathered that the meeting which was led by the Chairman of PDP’s BOT, Walid Jibrin, was held in Abuja.

The BOT of the main opposition party and the former Vice President met to discuss the choice of his running mate ahead of the 2023 presidential election.

There are speculations that the Atiku would pick his running mate from the South-East.

Major Upset As Kachikwu Beat Kingsley Moghalu To ADC Presidential Ticket

A media entrepreneur, Dumebi Kachikwu, has defeated a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Kingsley Moghlau to the presidential ticket of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Naija News reports that Kachikwu defeated Moghalu, who had vowed to retire Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar, the presidential primary of the ADC held on Wednesday night.

Kachikwu polled 977 votes against Moghalu’s 589 votes. Chukwuka Monye came third with 339 votes at the primary exercise in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

It was gathered that other aspirants kicked against the victory of Kachikwu. They accused the Roots Nigeria CEO of “dollarising” the process by bribing delegates.

2023: Ezenwafor Bows To Pressure, Withdraws As Labour Party Factional Presidential Candidate

The factional presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Jude Ezenwafor has announced his withdrawal from the 2023 presidential race.

Naija News reports that Ezenwafor made the announcement on Thursday, where he noted that his decision was based on personal reasons.

“I hereby withdraw from the forthcoming Presidential Election in 2023. After consulting my supporters nationwide, I decided to withdraw for personal reasons.

“I regret any inconvenience my withdrawal might cost our great party. I thank the leadership of our great party for giving me the opportunity to serve Nigeria,” he said in a letter seen by THE WHISTLER on Thursday.

Northern Govs Had Picked Tinubu Before APC Presidential Primary – Hon. Doguwa

The Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Doguwa on Wednesday reacted to the emergence of the former governor of Lagos State, Bola Tinubu as the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress.

According to Doguwa, the victory of the APC National Leader in the presidential primary of the ruling party did not come as a surprise to them.

Doguwa stated this during an interview on Channels TV on Wednesday.

He described Tinubu as Buhari of the South due to his political strength in the region.
