Ex-APC Guber Aspirant Clinches Labour Party Ticket In Plateau

A former All Progressives Congress (APC) member in Plateau State, Yohanna Margif has emerged as the state’s Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate for the 2023 general elections.

Margif’s victory was confirmed after pulling higher votes at the LP primary election which had a total of 85 delegates, 5 each from the 17 Local Government Area of the state.

Announcing the gubernatorial candidate, the National Chairman of the Party, Julius Abure who spearheaded the team for the primary election said the Labour Party will deliver the masses from the poverty that the APC and opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) brought to Nigerians.

Naija News understands that Margif had initially purchased the APC governorship nomination and expression of interest form but dumped the party before its primary elections, citing a case of imposition.

He joined Labour Party afterwards and is eventually now the party’s guber candidate.

Speaking further, Abure who was represented by Joseph Ndirang noted that the manifesto of the Labour Party is to present credible and quality candidates during the general elections that will focus on education, health, security, economy and the welfare of Nigerian workers.

Reacting to his victory, Margif expressed confidence that he will be the next Governor of Plateau State after Lalong.

He said the party will work together to ensure it emerges victorious come 2023.

“I put myself to the task knowing fully well that the foundation laid by our founding fathers must never be destroyed but built upon”, Margif.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Labour Party in the State, Mrs Grace Zamfara, said they will work together with the Plateau people to ensure that the candidate is elected as governor come 2023.
