EFCC Storms BUA Office After 'Raid' On Dangote Office

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have reportedly made a failed attempt to arrest the gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara.

According to The PUNCH, the drama occurred at the Port Harcourt International Airport on Tuesday night.

Recall that the EFCC had declared Fubara, the immediate past Accountant General of Rivers state and three other government officials wanted over alleged N117 billion fraud.

It was gathered that as the plane conveying Fubara and other PDP chieftains who had accompanied him to Abuja to receive his Certificate of Return touched down at the airport the EFCC operatives moved to arrest him.

But some youths who were at the airport to receive the PDP candidate allegedly resisted the officials and attacked them, which resulted in some of the EFCC operatives sustaining injuries.

Fubara would later go on to address party supporters and stakeholders at the PDP secretariat.

When contacted, the state Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, told The PUNCH that he was not aware of the incident, adding that the airport was not under his jurisdiction.

β€œAt the Airport? Well, I am not aware. The airport is not under me. The airport and seaport have their own commissioners of police,” Eboka stated.

The EFCC is yet to release on official statement on the failed attempt to arrest Fubara.
