Fifteen suspects linked to the killing and burning of Ahmad Usman on Saturday have been arrested by the Federal Capital Territory police command.
Naija News had earlier reported that Usman was stoned to death and burnt by a mob over an alleged blasphemous comment against Prophet Muhammed in the Lugbe area of the country’s capital city.
The FCT police command in a statement released through its spokesman disclosed that suspects have been arrested and detained.
The statement reads, “The FCT Police Command has arrested 15 suspects in connection with the violence and killing of the late Ahmad Usman, a member of a vigilante group, in the Lugbe area of the FCT on June 4, 2022.
“The arrest of the suspects follows ongoing investigations into the unfortunate incident and circumstances that led to the killing of the 30-year-old Usman.”
The Commissioner of Police, FCT Command, Babaji Sunday vowed that the command would get to the root of the matter and bring all the perpetrators to book.
Babaji said, “We assure that the Command would get to the root of the matter and bring all the perpetrators to book. We, therefore, reiterate that justice would be served in the matter.”
