Two personnel of the Nigeria Police Force were reportedly killed yesterday in Enugu State by some unknown gunmen.

The security personnel were reportedly on duty at Royal Mass Transit Workshop at Mkpamte, Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State when the assailants attacked, Naija News understands.

It was gathered that the gunmen dispossessed the officers of their guns before leaving the scene.

Vanguard quoted a source as saying that the incident has thrown the largely rustic community into shock. However, even hours after the incident, no official statement has been issued on the incident.

The Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO of Enugu State, Daniel Ndukwe, could not respond to calls at the time the report was given.

Meanwhile, Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Police Force on Friday said it arrested one of its personnel for assaulting two residents in Ilorin, the state capital.

Naija News understands that a video had gone viral on social media earlier showing a police officer manhandling two brothers for a crime not known.

The identities of the brothers were confirmed as Adeleke Ridwan ‘m’ aged 22years and Adeleke Habeeb ‘m’ (the eldest) who reportedly sell clothes in the Challenge area of Ilorin.

Reacting to the humiliating scenario, the Police Command in a press release made available to Naija News on Friday, revealed that the officer in the viral video belongs to the Kwara State Command’s Anti Robbery team who were carrying out a routine check along Unity roundabout Ilorin.

The force revealed the identity of the personnel as Inspector Aigbobahi Ogbemudia.

The Kwara Police Command frowned at the development, stating emphatically, that the policeman has no right to hit or assault any citizen in that manner regardless of his status, even as a suspect under investigation.
