The Progressives governor’s forum (PGF) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) met twice on Tuesday to discuss President Muhammadu Buhari successor.

However, the two meetings did not produced anything tangible as the party stakeholders are still undecided.

According to Premium Times, the governor’s first meeting was at the lodge of Kebbi state governor, Atiku Bagudu, who is the chairman of the PGF, the association of all APC governors.

In the meeting one of the governors present told the publication that the stakeholders were divided along regional lines and could not reach a decision.

Some of the arguments in the meeting was that since Atiku Abubakar had emerged as the candidate of the PDP, a southern candidate cannot win at the 2023 general elections, hence, a northern candidate should be given priority.

However, southern governors in the meeting disagreed, insisting that power must rotate to the south after eight years of President Buhari.

In the second meeting, one of the governors said some of his colleagues from the north insisted on picking a candidate from the north.

However there were some who insisted that that power should shift to the south.

The governors are:

Babagana Zulum of Borno

Simeon Lalong of Plateau

Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna

Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano.

Aminu Masari of Katsina

Abubakar Bello of Niger

AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara

Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa

Bello Matawalle of Zamfara
