There was commotion last night around the Omoda roundabout in Ilorin, Kwara State after gunshots were fired by alleged cult groups.

Reports on Tuesday morning revealed that three people were killed in the bloody clash.

It was gathered that the incident which occurred at about 8:40 PM on Monday night, involve a Hausa commercial Okada rider and two suspected cultists whose identities are yet to be verify.

Daily Post reports quoting an eyewitness as saying that unrest started in the area when the suspected cultists started shooting sporadically, forcing people to scamper for safety.

Traders and commuters were forced to desert the scene to save their lives from the dreadful incident. Efforts, however, to get further details about the incident from the spokesperson of the State police command, Mr Okasanmi Ajayi, in Ilorin, proved abortive as he could not respond yet to text messages sent to him, Naija News understands.

Naija News understands that the latest incident in Ilorin is coming days after Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has threatened to unleash hell on criminals in the state following the killings of two young boys in the Adifa and Center Igboro area of Ilorin this weekend.

The force in a press release made available to Naija News last Saturday said it received with bitter heart the murder of two young men; Lukman and Kudus in the state capital.

The boys according to the command were killed by a gang led by one Habeeb Ganiyu ‘M’ of Agbarere area Ilorin. The suspects according to the report, stabbed the deceased several times in the chest.

It said that the victims were rushed to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital by men of Oja Oba Police station after receiving a distress call. The victims, however, were confirmed dead upon arrival at the UITH by the doctors on duty.

The leader of the gang who reportedly carried out the attack was said to have also sustained a degree of injury.

While the immediate/remote cause(s) of the fatal attack is yet to be unravelled, the Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Police Command, CP Tuesday Assayomo psc, in the press release ordered a discreet investigation into the matter.
