JUST IN: Suspected Terrorists Blow Off Kogi LGA Offices With Explosives

Citizens of Kogi State, particularly those in Kabba, have been thrown into confusion after a bomb blast was heard on Sunday evening in the area.

Reports obtained by Naija News revealed that the incident occurred in the late hours of Sunday.

Security personnel who spoke earlier with SaharaReporters linked the bomb explosion to the Islamic State-backed faction of Boko Haram, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

However, in a more detailed report, the State Command of the Nigeria Police Force explained that the explosion happened in the Kabba Town of Kabbah-Bunu Local Government Area of the state.

Hours after the incident, the command’s Public Relations Officer, William Ovye-Ayaz spoke with newsmen in Lokoja, the state capital, noting that there was no casualty recorded in the blast.

He explained that the explosion happened precisely at one Omofemi Bar at Okepadi Quarters, Kabba, around 9.15 p.m. on Sunday.

Ovye-Azaz said: “As it is now, there is no casualty, but only chairs and tables and the building is affected by the yet to be determined nature of the explosion.

“Already the Commissioner of Police, Mr Edward Egbuka, has directed our DC Investigations and the Bomb detective Squad to move to the scene to ascertain the very nature of the explosion.

“The police is on top of the situation as our officers and men drafted to the area have cordoned the place until an investigation reveals the real cause of the explosion.”

The PPRO lamented that it was unfortunate that criminal elements are out to disrupt the prevailing peace we are enjoying in Kogi.

“We shall not rest until we bring to book such elements and let them see the need for maintenance of peace in our society,” he warned.
