Aisha Buhari Reacts As Binani Emerges First APC Female Gubernatorial Candidate

The First Lady, Aisha Buhari, has expressed happiness over the emergence of Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress Party (APC) in Adamawa State.

Recall that Binani won the party’s gubernatorial ticket after pulling the highest number of votes in the election contested by some political big wigs in the state.

Binani pulled a total of 430 votes while Nuhu Ribadu, former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), came second with 288 votes.

The immediate past governor, Muhammadu Bindow, came third with 103 votes, Abdurrazaq Namda polled 94 votes while Wafari Theman got 39 votes.

Other aspirants, Umar Mustapha Madawaki and Wafarniyi Theman respectively clinched fifth and sixth positions in the contest.

In a statement issued on Saturday by her spokesman, Aliyu Abdullahi, the wife of the President described Binani’s victory at the governorship primary election as a victory for all Nigerian women.

Mrs Buhari congratulated the first female APC governorship candidate and asked her to keep working hard and not relent on her effort.

Binani, the Senator representing the Adamawa Central zone had previously served as a member of the House of Representatives for Yola North/Yola South/Girei Federal Constituency.
