Just In: Tinubu Set To Return To Nigeria After France Trip

Ahead of the presidential primaries and national convention of the All Progressives Congress, Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni and his Borno State counterpart, Babagana Umara Zulum have said the outstanding professional and political records of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu will place him above other aspirants.

The two governors made this known when Tinubu visited their states to meet with the party’s delegates to the national convention/presidential primaries holding in a few days in Abuja.

Buni said “The history of democratic struggle in Nigeria cannot be complete without a mention of your tremendous work, from NADECO days to being the last man standing and preventing our nation from being a one-party state. For us in Yobe, this is a homecoming. You are here to interface with your brothers and sisters our delegates. Yobe is your home and you are home.”

Speaking in Yobe, Asiwaju Tinubu emphasised emphasized the role of the state in Nigeria’s agricultural revolution.

He said: “We must utilise our potential as a country to train and employ our youths, deploy modern technology, lower consumer prices, feed our growing population and export finished products. We must also establish commodity exchange boards and consider credit reforms so as to better support our agricultural value chain.”

Speaking on insecurity in the North-East, he said: “I view the issue of insecurity with utmost seriousness and will give it the highest priority in my administration. Our military, police force and security agencies are committed and capable.”

While speaking to the delegates, Tinubu emphasized his commitment to renovating vital areas of the country in order to stabilize the economy, generate job opportunities, and ensure and modernize infrastructure among other things.

Senator Kashim Shettima, the state’s former governor, commended Tinubu as “the candidate best prepared to rule Nigeria at this critical time” and “a king who has made many kings.”

Governor Zulum lauded Tinubu’s unrivalled statesmanship, stressing the former Lagos governor’s long-standing dedication to Nigerian unity.

Zulum reiterated his and Borno delegates’ support for Tinubu’s election as president, noting that his efforts as a nation builder began even before he led the alliance that culminated in the APC’s formation in 2014. He also prayed that God would provide victory to the APC leader.
