State Police: Panacea To Address Insecurity, Says Hon Kawu Sumaila

The Nigerian Police Force has reacted to the viral video of some hoodlums seen attacking a Toyota Camry car in Abuja as the driver attempted to evade their attack.

The video which has gone viral on the micro-blogging site had created fears and tension not just among netizens but residents of Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Some members of the public had claimed the incident happened at the Lugbe area of Abuja but others including residents debunked such, claiming it was part of the attack at the Dei Dei market on Wednesday.

Reacting to the viral video and the ongoing comments on social media, the Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi took to his Twitter page on Thursday to clarify that the attack didn’t happen in the Lugbe area of Abuja.

He quoted the FCT Police Commissioner Babaji Sunday to have stated that he is currently on patrol of the Lugbe-Airport road while assuring residents to remain calm and go about their normal activities without fear.

The statement however failed to identify the exact location of the incident which is generating much attention on social media.

He wrote: “The attention of the Commissioner of Police, FCT Police Command, CP Babaji Sunday, has been drawn to a video making the rounds on social media platforms about an incident which is being credited to have happened in Lugbe, FCT Abuja.

“The CP wishes to state categorically that there is no such incident in Lugbe as he is currently on patrol with operatives around the Lugbe-Airport Road axis.

“The CP urges all well-meaning members of Abuja Community to go about their lawful businesses as the police is on its toes to ensure safety of their lives and property.”
