Gunmen List Nine Local Govts For Attack In Anambra, Give Condition To Stop ‘War’ [Full List]
Unknown gunmen have written letters to nine local government areas in Anambra State warning of imminent attacks.
In a message to the Anambra LGAs, the group asked security operatives to prepare for war in ‘Biafra Land’, The PUNCH reports.
The group asked President Muhammadu Buhari to release the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, to stop attacks in the South-East.
The gunmen wrote: “These local government areas should wait for us soon. We are warning our dear Professor that it is time for action and not time to speak big grammar and talking. All the security men occupying should get ready for action.
“Go and tell the President to release our oga (boss), Onyendu, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, or face continuous war – FINAL WARNING.”
Naija News understands that the local government areas listed to be attacked are Ihiala, Aguata, Nnewi South, Awka North, Awka South, Idemili North, Idemili South, Orumba South, Orumba North and Anambra East.
Police, Soldiers Gun Down 6 IPOB/ESN Members In Imo State
Meanwhile, some suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its militant arm, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) have been killed by security operatives in Imo State.
The IPOB/ESN members were killed on Monday during an attempted attack on the palace of a traditional ruler, His Royal Highness Eze Dr E. C Okeke at Orlu Local Government Area.
The palace of Okeke who is the chairman of the Imo Council of Traditional Rulers was a planned target of attack on Monday but the attackers met stiff resistance from security operatives who were mobilized to the scene.
Naija News understands the gunme at about 8 am on Monday morning started shooting sporadically as they approached the palace.
The spokesperson of the Imo State Police Command, Mike Abattam who confirmed the incident however pointed out that a combined team of Police and Military operatives was quickly drafted in before the attackers could inflict any heavy damage.
