Justice For David: Association Of Music Band In Nigeria Speak Out On Sound Engineer Burnt To Death By Okada Riders

The association of band owners of Nigeria has reacted to the gruesome death of their colleague David Sunday burnt by Hausa bike riders, popularly known as Abokis, at Admiralty way, in Lekki, Lagos.

In a statement made available this morning, Monday 16th May 2022 but dated Sunday, 15th May, the National president Akin Shuga said the jungle justice melted at David has left two of the band members in critical condition as they are currently battling for their lives.

Akin Shuga disclosed that David would be mourned by his young wife and two infants who would grow up to learn about the gruesome murder of their father.

According to the National President of AMBON, it is surprising that David was murdered in the middle of one of the busiest roads within the Lekki metropolis when the death would have been avoided under a system that works promptly and effectively.

Akin Shuga called on the general public to demand justice for David noting that the murder bears an impact on Lagos nightlife business and the safety of live band professionals.

Part of the statement reads: “The Association of Music Band Owners of Nigeria is outraged by the cold-blooded murder of a sound engineer with a legacy band, David Sunday, by an irate mob of motor cyclists in Lekki, Lagos on Thursday, MAY 12, 2022″.

“The Jungle-justice treatment also left two members of the band, Philip Balogun and Olatunji Francis critically ill and fighting for their lives in a coma at a hospital we cannot disclose. Late Davido Sunday will now be left to be mourned by a young wife and two infants who will grow up to learn about the gruesome murder of their loving father”.

“We see the public and join people of good conscience to demand justice for our members who were doing their bit to earn a decent living. The murder of Davido bears an impact on Lagos nightlife business and the safety of live bands professionals who are critical stakeholders in the growth of this subset of our creative economy”.

“We believe that the gruesome murder of David in the middle of one of the busiest roads within the Lekki metropolis could have been averted under a system that works promptly and effectively”.
