Unknown Arsonists Burn LG Secretariat, Magistrate Court In Anambra

The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Police Force has commenced investigations after some unknown arsonists wrecked Idemili North Local Government secretariat in Ogidi and a Magistrate Court in the area with night fire.

Reports reaching Naija News at the moment confirmed that the criminal elements invaded the premises on Sunday night to perpetrate the act.

All documented files and valuable properties in the secretariat, including the secretariat building, were reportedly razed with fire.

The sad development was confirmed to newsmen on Monday morning by the State Police Command, attributing the attack to unidentified arsonists.

DSP Tochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson of the State Police Command said: “Yes, the incident was confirmed, and our men were there to restore normalcy.

“Right now, the fire has been put off, and calm has been restored to the area,” Ikenga said in a conversation with Daily Post.

The latest attack, Naija News understands is coming two weeks after some unknown gunmen killed four people in Anambra State.
The victims were according to reports, killed at different locations in the state.

Two of the victims were identified as siblings. Their names are revealed as Godwin Ikechukwu Modobi and Nnajiofor Modobi.

They were reportedly murdered in Umuhu village in Ukpor, Nnewi South Local Government Area of the state.

A source close to the family told the PUNCH that Godwin was a direct younger brother to Nnajiofor, and was also a former youth leader in the community.

The other two victims were reportedly killed along the Udorji Road, beside St. Mary’s Church, Ozubulu, in Ekwusigo LGA.
