One Killed, Others Injured As Heavy Duty Truck Crushes Vehicle In Lagos

There was commotion at COSTAIN roundabout in the wee hour of Thursday (today) after a heavy duty truck crushed a smaller vehicle.

One person has been confirmed dead in the incident while others reportedly sustained degrees of injuries.

The incident, Naija News learnt involved a 40-feet container laden truck.

The killed victim was said to be a male passenger from the smaller vehicle, while three other survivors reportedly include a female and two males.

Vanguard quoted an eyewitness as saying the incident happened at about 5.30 am, killing one yet be identified man on the spot.

Men of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, LASEMA, members of the Nigerian Police, and
Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit, SEHMU, and other emergency responders are currently at the scene for rescue operations as at reporting time.

Confirming the incident, Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu said “LASEMA, LRT, LASAMBUS officials has handed over the bagged remains of the unidentified adult male crushed to death by the fallen 40-feet container at COSTAIN roundabout to officials of SEHMU.”

Meanwhile, there was tension in Lagos yesterday after a yet to be identified gang of gunmen attacked officials of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in a hotel.

Naija News learnt that the assailants at midnight of Tuesday stormed the Mabila Hotel in Ikorodu, Lagos State, where they attacked and robbed officials of the examination body.

They are said to have killed the gateman of the hotel before raiding rooms in the hotel.

Confirming the attack, the State Police spokesman, SP Benjamin Hundeyin told newsmen that the JAMB officials had been immediately relocated to a safe place following the incident.

The PPRO said, “One Prof. Odunsi, an official of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) who lodged at the hotel was robbed of his two phones, one HP Laptop and N20,000 cash.

“Similarly, two female officials of JAMB, who lodged at the hotel, were robbed of their phones and jewellery,” he said.
