Buhari Directs Amaechi, Ngige, Malami, Others With Political Ambition To Resign

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday directed members of his cabinet with political ambition to submit their resignation letters on or before Monday the 16th of May, 2022.

Buhari gave directives during the weekly Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.

2023: Obasanjo Reveals Region That Must Produce Next Nigerian President

Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has thrown his weight behind calls for the 2023 presidency to be zoned to the southeast.

Chief Obasanjo maintained that in the interest of peace, justice and equity, the southeast must be allowed by other regions to produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.

A senior Nigerian lawyer, Olisa Agbakoba (SAN) has added his views to the controversies about the eligibility or otherwise of former President Goodluck Jonathan to contest the 2023 presidency.

Agbakoba in a statement sent to Naija News on Wednesday, 11th May, held that there are legal, moral and ethical angles from which the issue can be considered.

Appeal Court Takes Decision On Section 84(12) Of Electoral Act 2022

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has taken a decision on the provision of Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022.

Naija News recalls that the Federal High Court in Umuahia had in a judgement, voided the provision of Section 84(12) of the Electoral Act 2022.

The court in a judgment delivered by Justice Evelyn Anyadike held that the section was unconstitutional, invalid, illegal, null, void and of no effect.

In a ruling on Wednesday, the appellate court set aside the judgment of the lower court in Umuahia which voided the provision of the controversial section of the Electoral Act.

The Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has revealed why he endorsed his deputy, Nasir Yusuf Gawuna, as his preferred successor in 2023.

Naija News had reported that the decision to pick Gawuna as Ganduje’s successor was made at a meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders in the state over the weekend.

In a meeting with Kano APC stakeholders on Tuesday, Ganduje said he chose Gawuna as his successor because of his loyalty, reliability and dedication.

Ikeobasi Mokelu, an ally of former military dictator, late Gen. Sani Abacha, has obtained the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential Expression of Interest and Nomination forms.

Naija News reports that members of the Mokelu Campaign Organisation picked up the forms on his behalf on Tuesday at the International Conference Centre (ICC).

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the All Progressives Congress and the Muhammadu Buhari government of withdrawing public funds meant for development purposes to party coffers.

In a statement released on Tuesday evening by its spokesman, Debo Ologunagba, the PDP said the ruling party is diverting looted funds to its members to purchase the Presidential forms.
