Tinubu Campaign Manager Abdulmumin Jibrin Dumps APC

A former member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin has announced his defection from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

In a post on his Twitter handle on Saturday, the head of Bola Tinubu campaign group said he would announce his new political party soon.

Jibrin wrote: “I have done my best for APC. Its time to move on. I will announce my new political party within the next 24 hours insha Allah. I will make a formal statement in due course.”

2023: CBN Governor, Emefiele Breaks Silence On Presidential Ambition

The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has broken the silence on the report of his presidential ambition.

The CBN Governor in a series of posts on his Twitter account on Saturday claimed that he has not decided on the presidential race.

Emefiele appreciated farms and patriots for going as far as raising funds and offering him Presidential Nomination Forms.

There had been reports that the CBN Governor picked up the N100m forms of the ruling party on Friday.

According to Emefiele, he would use his money to purchase the form if he eventually decide to contest the race.

Despite Denial, Buhari Thanks UK For ‘Proscribing IPOB’, Asks US To Do Same

President Muhammadu Buhari has commended the United Kingdom for reportedly proscribing the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Buhari’s praise is coming despite the UK denying it outlawed the pro-Biafra group in its country.

There had been reports in the early hours of Friday that UK barred IPOB, the Movement for the Actualisation of Sovereign State of Biafra and other Biafran groups from participating in its asylum programme.

But the British High Commission in a statement condemned the reports claiming that it had proscribed IPOB as a terrorist group in the UK.

Uninformed by the UK’s denial, Buhari in a statement by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, stated that the violent secessionist organisation has long been proscribed as such in Nigeria, hailing Birtain for its ‘decision’.

2023: Osinbajo, Tinubu, Fayemi, Others Fail To Agree On Consensus

South-West Presidential aspirants under the All Progressives Congress on Friday failed to agree on a consensus presidential candidate ahead of the 2023 general elections.

This is as the former chairman of the ruling party, Bisi Akande warned the aspirants not to allow the South-West miss the opportunity to emerge as the presidential candidate of the party.

The leaders of the party in the region met with presidential aspirants on Friday night at the Lagos House.

Meanwhile, it was gathered that the issue of name-calling and other personal attacks was resolved at the closed-door meeting.

Coalition Picks N100m APC Nomination Forms For AfDB President, Adesina

The President of the African Development Bank and former minister of Agriculture, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, on Saturday, obtained copies of his Nomination and Expression of Interest forms to vie for the All Progressives Congress presidential ticket.

A coalition of 28 groups have purchased the nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress for the President of the African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina.

The group consist of Youth Arise Movement, Nigerians in Diaspora One Nigeria Group, Prudent Youth Association of Nigeria, women groups, farmers, people with disabilities and other civil society groups.

2023 Presidency: There’s No Good Job From Buhari For APC Aspirants To Continue – Wike

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has knocked 2023 presidential aspirants under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who have been claiming they want to continue what President Muhammadu Buhari started.

According to Wike, there is nothing good that the Buhari administration has achieved since taking over power in 2015 that is worth a continuation.

He argued that insecurity, crippled economy and increased hunger have been the hallmark of the current administration and Nigerians don’t want such to continue.

The Rivers State Governor made the submission during an interactive session with Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) delegates in Bayelsa State as a part of his consultations towards emerging the party’s presidential candidate.

No New Approval For Electricity Tariff Increase In Nigeria – NERC

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) says it has not granted any fresh approval for the increase of electricity tariff in Nigeria.

The commission stated that what is been termed a new/increased tariff by the electricity distribution companies is the approval granted since December 31, 2021, but which only became effective in February 2022.

The chairman of NERC, Mr. Sanusi Garba made the clarification on Friday in a chat with newsmen in Abuja.

Naija News reports there had been outcries from Nigerians following the news that the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has approved tariff increases for six power distribution companies (DisCos).

2023: Bishop Oyedepo Speaks On Contesting For Presidency

The General Overseer of Living Faith Church, popularly known as Winners Chapel, David Oyedepo has described vying for the presidency in the 2023 race as a demotion.

The cleric stated this during a leadership summit transmitted worldwide.

Oyedepo in his statement said it is too late for him to contest the highest political position in the country.

The cleric called on the workforce of the church to be devoted to serving God.

Another Building Collapses In Lagos

Another building collapsed in Lagos State, five days after a three-story building collapsed in the state.

Naija News gathered that the two-storey building located in Chris Igadi Street, in the Ago Palace Way area of the state collapsed in the early hour of Saturday.

A further report had it that occupants of the building had vacated the residence after noticing signs of cracks in the structure.

The development was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu.

Another Traditional Ruler In Oyo Is Dead

Another traditional ruler in Oyo State, the Onijeru of Ijeru land, Oba Elijah Olaniyi Popoola is dead.

The Yoruba monarch joined his ancestors on Friday at the age of 85 after a brief illness.

The death of Oba Popoola is coming after the death of some prominent traditional rulers in the state.

The Onijeru of Ijeru land is in the Ogbomoso South Local government area of Oyo state.
