2023: Yerima Speaks On ‘Gentleman Agreement’ For Tinubu To Take Over After Buhari

A former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima has declared his intention to contest the 2023 presidential race.

Naija News reports that Yerima made the declaration on Friday at the Aso Rock Villa in Abuja shortly after a meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari.

Speaking to State House correspondents, Yerima said he was at the Villa to inform President Buhari about his intention to succeed him in 2023.

He added that he would pick up his forms on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and also make the official declaration today.

“I’m here this afternoon to inform Mr. President of my intention to participate in the 2023 elections and to contest the office of the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I’m going to, insha Allah, purchase my forms today and officially declare this afternoon,” he said.

He added that if elected President of Nigeria, he would focus on fighting insecurity, poverty and ignorance.

“So, I have three points as well; to fight insecurity, fight poverty, and ignorance,” he added.

Naija News reports Yerima became prominent during his tenure as the Zamfara State Governor when he introduced the Shari’a law in his state.

He was in office between 1999 and 2007 at a time Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was the President of Nigeria.
