Naira Redesign: Hardship Is Too Much, Ohanaeze Tells Buhari

An Igbo socio-cultural group, Imeobi Ohanaeze Ndigbo is set to meet to take a final resolution on the zoning of the 2023 presidency to the South East.

Naija News learned that the crucial meeting will take place on Thursday at Ohanaeze Ndigbo National Secretariat in Enugu State by 12pm.

In a chat with The Punch, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Spokesman, Dr Alex Ogbonnia, said Imeobi Ohanaeze Ndigbo is the highest decision-making organ of the Igbo group.

He said the meeting was convened to ensure that both the PDP and the APC zone their presidential tickets to the South East and how to field a single aspirant for the presidential primaries of the two parties.

Ogbonnia added that the meeting was called to ensure that the number of aspirants in the two leading parties is reduced in order to strengthen the unity in the zone.

The Ohanaeze spokesman pointed out that at the end of the meeting, the leaders will make a final resolution on the zoning of the presidency and make it known to the presidential aspirants.

Ogbonnia said Ohanaeze leaders are worried over the high number of aspirants in the South East that have emerged to contest their parties’ presidential ticket and vie for the 2023 presidency.

He said, “It will focus mainly on the 2023 Presidency. At the end of the meeting, they (Imeobi Ohanaeze) will make a final resolution on the zoning of the presidency.

“The meeting will also talk about how to harmonise the various interests so that one aspirant will be presented in each of the two major political parties at the forthcoming presidential primaries.”
