Elon Musk: We Are Closely Monitoring Twitter - FG Declares

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday, May 2, made his first tweet on the microblogging platform, Twitter, after months.

Recall that the Nigerian government had officially placed a ban on the operation of Twitter in the country on 5 June 2021.

After months of critics and negotiations, the ban was subsequently lifted on 13 January 2022.

While many of his aides and government officials had returned to the bird app since January, President Buhari has refused to use the social media platform.

The Nigerian leader, however, stirred a barrage of reactions today after he took to the bird app to congratulate Muslims as they celebrate 2022 Eid El Fitr.

Having congratulated all Muslim faithful in his Sallah Day message, President Buhari makes a thread on the state of the nation.

He asserted that normality is finally beginning to return to the Northeastern part of the country which has been massively affected by insurgents.

Buhari also hailed his administration saying it isĀ getting impressive reports of the special operations to curb crude oil theft and illegal oil bunkering in the South-South, with millions of illegally refined products being impounded and illegal refineries destroyed.

President Buhari again condemned the disturbing rise in criminal attacks targeting law enforcement and public facilities in the South East.

Accusing the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN) of being culprits, he assured us that the government is making efforts to get rid of the group front the region.

While citizens returned the president’s Sallah day greetings, some were quick to mock his return to the microblogging app after banning the same months ago.

Naija News observed that President Buhari in his Twitter threads did not mention the lingering strike action by the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU.

Nigerian varsity students have been at home for months after deliberations on issues of concern between the academic body and the Federal Government results in a stalemate.

President Buhari not mentioning about the lingering ASUU strike in his Sallah Day Message today, received further condemnations from netizens, Naija News reports.
