Nine Die In Kano Fire Incidents

Some irate youths in Cross River State on Saturday morning made a gory display of three criminals suspected armed robbers.

Naija News understands that the suspects were nabbed and burnt to death while attempting to carry out a robbery operation in the Ikot Ansa community of Calabar.

Two of the suspected criminals were set ablaze, Saturday morning on Mayne Avenue in Calabar South LGA.

In a similar situation, still on Saturday morning, another armed robber was reportedly caught in Ikot Ansa.

A vigilante group in the area wasted no time on the suspect as they reportedly set him ablaze.

A resident, John Akpan, who confirmed the incident to Daily Post said the suspect was a member of a 3-man gang which robbed a house in the neighbourhood but luck ran against him.

According to him, two others escaped the jungle justice. Naija News learnt that the remains of the criminal were left for all to see at the time this report was given.

“The boy is suspected to be in his teen. He was in a group of three armed robbers who came to rob our neighbourhood at about 1 am this Saturday.

“He was caught by some vigilante group while the other two escaped and left him,” the eyewitness was quoted as saying.

Meanwhile, the State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Irene Ugbo said she was not aware of the incident but cautioned against jungle justice, saying the law is against it.

She said; “We have usually cautioned against what is called jungle justice. All criminals must always be handed over to the law enforcement agencies for prosecution.”
