Angry youths have held the Senator representing Plateau South, Nora Dadu’ut, her husband, close family members, aides and some journalists hostage at Namu village, Qua’an Pan local government area of the Plateau State.

The senator was in Namu to commission her project, the only ICT Centre/public e-library when the incident occurred.

Dadu’ut and others, including officials of the Universal Basic Education, UBEC, State government officials, the traditional institution which had the Long Goemai, Long Kwo, the Head of Namu town, and other traditional rulers had concluded the event and were on their way back when they encountered various roadblock mounted by youths in the society.

Some vehicles turned back but the senator and journalists were stopped.

Some journalists were manhandled and the pilot vehicle and journalists vehicle in the senators entourage were also destroyed.

According to Vanguard, the trouble started when some security personnel apprehended some youths for questioning over a yet-to-be ascertained issue.

The angry youngsters complained that this is often the trend when the senator is around, they insisted that the youths who were arrested must be returned before the senator be allowed to leave the vicinity.

Hours after the politician was taken hostage she was rescued by some security personnel.

At the time of filing this report, a dusk-to-dawn curfew had been imposed on the town.
