The service chiefs alongside the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, on Thursday met to discuss the rescue effort of the kidnapped victims of the Abuja-Kaduna bound train which happened on March 28.

Naija News reports that the meeting took place behind closed doors at the Force headquarters, Abuja.

It is understood that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss how the kidnapped passengers would be rescued and arrest the terrorists behind the train attack.

It was gathered that the service chiefs and heads of security agencies will also discuss the strategic plans for the forthcoming election considering the recent alarm raised by the Department of State Service (DSS) earlier in the week.

This development follows a letter written by family members of the victims to the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj.-Gen. Mohammed Monguno (rtd), over the continued detention of their loved ones in captivity.

The family members in the letter dated 25 April, said the federal government has failed to brief them regarding efforts to rescue their loved ones from the gunmen.

They, however, demanded a status report on the state of their loved ones from the national security adviser.

According to the relatives, the Muhammadu Buhari-led government had left them in the dark since the attack on the Kaduna-bound train.

Naija News recalls that there was commotion barely a month ago after a group of terrorists, ambushed a train heading for Kaduna from Abuja.

The assailants bombed one of the rail tracks causing an accident after which they attacked the train in full force.

Nine persons, including a young medical doctor, were killed during the attack, scores were injured and over 62 other passengers were kidnapped.
